New Delhi: Real Madrid have cemented their status as the biggest football club in the world, achieving a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first club to surpass €1 billion in operating income. The Spanish giants, under Florentino Perez’s leadership, recorded a total revenue of €1.065 billion during the 2023/24 season, leaving rivals Manchester City (€838 million) and PSG (€806 million) far behind.

This historic achievement highlights Real Madrid’s dominance both on and off the pitch. According to the Football Benchmark’s 2025 European Champions Report, the redevelopment of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium played a vital role in boosting the club’s finances, alongside record-breaking matchday revenues and commercial success.

Stadium redevelopment fuels financial growth

The newly renovated Santiago Bernabeu has been a game-changer. Matchday income alone brought in a staggering €251 million, marking a 28% increase compared to the previous year. The introduction of VIP areas added another €83 million, showcasing the club’s ability to leverage its state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Commercially, Real Madrid enjoyed a 26% boost in revenue from merchandising and advertising deals, while broadcasting income rose by 8%, thanks to their UEFA Champions League triumph. Their academy also contributed significantly, with €218 million generated from player sales between 2019 and 2025, the highest among Europe’s elite clubs.

Despite increased personnel costs (€505 million), Real Madrid maintained an efficient cost-to-revenue ratio of 47%, well below the 70% threshold. This efficiency, coupled with their financial strength, resulted in a net profit of €16 million for the year.

Real Madrid continue to set benchmarks, not just in terms of financial performance but also as a brand synonymous with success. This €1 billion milestone further solidifies their position as the undisputed leader in world football.

Real Madrid’s achievement isn’t just a financial triumph but a reflection of their forward-thinking approach. By combining strategic investments, efficient management, and on-field excellence, the club has redefined success in football.

Florentino Perez’s Real Madrid sets a new financial benchmark, achieving €1 billion operating income in the 2023/24 season, outpacing Manchester City and PSG by over €200 million in revenue.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
