New Delhi: Kyle Walker has officially left Manchester City to join AC Milan on a loan deal until the end of the season. The experienced right-back, who has been a cornerstone of Pep Guardiola’s side, will now take on a new challenge in Serie A. AC Milan announced the transfer on Friday, confirming that the deal includes an option to make the move permanent. Reports suggest the purchase option is valued at £4.2 million.

Walker leaves City after making 319 appearances since joining from Tottenham in 2017. During his time at the Etihad, he won six Premier League titles and was part of the historic treble-winning squad last season. Despite still having 18 months on his contract, the England international decided to explore opportunities abroad, citing the need for a fresh challenge.

Kyle Walker reflects on his Manchester City journey

The 34-year-old shared a heartfelt farewell on social media, thanking Manchester City for an unforgettable journey. He highlighted the 17 trophies won during his time at the club, including the Champions League. In his message, Walker credited Pep Guardiola for shaping him into the player he is today and expressed gratitude towards his teammates and the club’s staff.

Walker’s decision to leave comes during a period of inconsistency for City, who are currently fifth in the Premier League. He last featured in a 4-1 victory over West Ham earlier this month but was left out of the squad for the FA Cup match against Salford City. Guardiola confirmed that the defender had requested to explore overseas options before his loan was finalised.

At AC Milan, Walker will wear the No. 32 shirt and joins fellow English players Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The Rossoneri see him as a key addition to strengthen their backline as they aim to compete for domestic and European success. Walker could make his Serie A debut this weekend against Parma.

This move also marks a significant step for Walker on the international stage, as he prepares for future England campaigns. Despite leaving City, his influence on the Premier League will remain undeniable.
