Srinagar: In a good news for the Jammu and Kashmir Government employees, the government has announced a hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for all government employees under the 7th Pay Commission. The decision was taken after the Council of Ministers’ approval on January 20, 2025.
The J&K Finance Department release a order stating that the Dearness Allowance will be revised from the existing rate of 50 percent to 53 percent. The new DA will be applicable from July 1, 2024. The release stated that the employees enrolled under regular pay levels under the 7th Pay Commission will be eligible to get the benefits of the revised DA.
7th Pay Commission: J&K Employees’ DA Revision
The government confirmed to credit the arrears to employees for the additional DA installments from July to December 2024 in their February 2025 salary. The employees will get the increased DA included in the monthly salary from January 2025 onwards.
The payment on account of Dearness Allowance involving fraction of 50 paisa and above shall be rounded to the next higher rupee and the fraction of less than 50 paisa shall be ignored, the government order said.
The decision to hike the DA was announced after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha gave his approval to the decision of J&K Council of Ministers to hike the Dearness Allowance. The ministers meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
“In continuation to the Government Order No 178-F of 2024 dated May 21, 2024, it is hereby ordered that government employees working in regular pay levels under 7th Pay Commission recommendations shall be paid Dearness Allowance.
The term ‘basic pay’ in the revised pay structure means the pay drawn in the prescribed level in the pay matrix as per 7th Pay Commission recommendations, but does not include any other type of pay like special pay etc.,” the order stated.
The Jammu & Kashmir government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees under the 7th Pay Commission from 50% to 53%, effective July 1, 2024.
