Dehradun: World Junior Champion Parth Mane delivered an outstanding performance at the 38th National Games, securing the gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event.

The event, held at the Trishul Shooting Range, witnessed fierce competition among top shooters from across the country. Mane’s victory is a witness to his skill, composure, and rising dominance in the sport.

Mane remained confident and composed throughout the event

The 17-year-old Mane maintained his lead from the outset, showcasing his exceptional talent and focus. Despite stiff competition from seasoned shooters, he remained confident and composed throughout the event. Mane’s consistency was evident as he scored 10.7 or higher in six of the last ten shots, even though he faced a few low scores of 9.9 and 10.0 in the 12th and 14th shots.

Rudraksh Patil from Maharashtra secured the silver medal

Rudraksh Patil from Maharashtra secured the silver medal with a remarkable performance, pushing Mane to maintain his lead. Patil challenged Mane with a narrow margin of 0.6 points after 20 shots, but Mane responded with scores of 10.8 and 10.7 in his final shots, sealing his victory. Mane’s final score was 252.6 points, surpassing his gold medal-winning score from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by 0.4 points.

Kiran Jadhav claimed the bronze medal

Kiran Jadhav, representing Services, claimed the bronze medal. Jadhav showcased his prowess under pressure, scoring 10.8 in the 20th shot to surpass Paris 2024 Olympic Arjun Babuta of Punjab, who finished fourth. Babuta had initially led after 16 shots but fell to fourth place with a score of 10.4.

Parth Makhija secured the fifth position

Delhi’s Parth Makhija secured the fifth position after finishing fourth in the qualification round. Services’ Sandeep Singh, a participant in the 2024 Olympics, finished sixth, followed by his teammate Sandeep in seventh place. Assam’s Hriday Hazarika, the 2018 World Junior Champion, failed to capitalize on his opportunity after scoring 9.8 in the opening round.

Patil displayed remarkable resilience and focus

Patil, who won an Olympic quota for India at the 2022 World Championships, displayed remarkable resilience and focus. Despite the pressure, he executed each shot with precision, finishing with 42.2 points in his last four shots. Mane’s response with 42.4 points in the final shots highlighted his composure under pressure and secured his gold medal.

The 38th National Games continue to highlight the skill and dedication of India’s athletes, with many more events set to unfold in the coming days. Mane’s triumph sets a high standard for the competitors and adds to the excitement of the games.
