New Delhi: Indian ace batter Virat Kohli made his much-awaiting comeback in Indian domestic cricket as he made a return to the Ranji Trophy after 12 years. Kohli’s presence in the Arun Jaitley Stadium gathered a huge crowd as massive fans attended the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Railways.
The Board of Cricket Council of India has a proper earning structure in the domestic circuit. The earning of any player basically depends upon how many matches he has played in the Ranji Trophy.
Pay scale of Ranji Trophy:
Rs 60,000 per day for players who played more than 40 domestic matches.
Rs 50,000 per day for players who played 21-40 domestic matches.
Rs 40,000 per day for players who played less than 20 domestic matches.
Kohli played 140 matches in the domestic circuit and his total salary will fall to Rs 60,000 per day, which means Kohli will earn 2.4 lakhs for his return in the Ranji Trophy.
Virat Kohli’s Ranji Trophy comeback did not last long
After so much hype about Kohli’s return in the Ranji match against Railways at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi didn’t last long as Delhi won the toss and elected to field first and bundled out Railways on 241 runs.
In response, Delhi lost one wicket at the end of Day 1. Fans made their way to the stadium early on Day 2 as Kohli was all set to bat later in the day.
After Delhi lost their second wicket, Kohli made his way to the pitch and received a huge cheer from the crowd. Kohli took his time early in the match and announced his return with a spectacular straight drive which went for the four.
After that shot, Railways’ pacer Himanshu Sangwan bowled Kohli on the very next ball and he departed for just six runs in 15 balls on his much-awaiting return to the Ranji Trophy.
