New Delhi: Indian amateur Kartik Singh scripted history on Saturday after he became the youngest player from the subcontinent tom make the cut in  an Asian Tour event at the International Series India being held in Gurugram. Kartik, just 15, carded a one-under-par 71, bringing his total to four-over at the halfway mark.

He was placed comfortably inside the cut line, which fell at eight-over at the sprawling DLF Golf and Country Club. This was Kartik’s second appearance in a professional tournament, having previously featured in just a lone Asian Development Tour event.

Dream comes true for Kartik

It was actually a dream come true for the teenager as the field featured stars like two-time major winner DeChambeau and India’s very own Anirban Lahiri, along with LIV Golf League’s Joaquin Niemann. Kartik is ranked world number one in the under 15 amateur category and his fantastic performance was laude by one and all.

The young player credited his familiarity with the course for his strong and impactful performance. After the achievement, he said that it feels unreal playing with a legend like Bryson because normally he’s habitual of watching him on the TV. Playing with him in the same tournament is a great experience. He further said that he knew that he had the advantage of playing in his home course and he also knew that if he plays his game well, he will be able to compete with the legends.

Reflecting on his round, Singh added, ‘The experience was very good today. I played quite well, I played one under. I was four under after 11 holes, but it’s okay. I mean, I’m still happy with one under par on this course’. Kartik was trained at the DLF Golf Academy and received constant support from his family, remained poised beyond his years. He thanked all of the people involved after his success.
