New Delhi: 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi scripted history by becoming the youngest ever centurion in Indian Premier League (IPL) history to power Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a dominant 8-wicket victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing IPL 2025 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday. Suryavanshi shattered multiple records with his sensational knock of 101 runs off just 38 balls.
He not only became the youngest centurion in the IPL at the age of 14 years and 32 days, but also became the youngest to score a century in T20 cricket. The young batting sensation from Bihar broke the record held by Vijay Zol, who scored a hundred at the age of 18 years and 111 days for Maharashtra against Mumbai in 2013.
The young batter dazzled on the big stage as he showcased his exceptional talent and skills against some of the best bowlers in the world at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. He took the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Karim Janat and Ishant Sharma to the cleaners en route to his magnificent knock. Opening the batting with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 201-run chase for RR, Suryavanshi made his intent clear in the very first over with a huge six against Siraj.
He went after Ishant in the 4th over to help RR get 28 runs from it before smashing two sixes against Washington Sundar in the next over. Suryavanshi raced to his fifty off just 17 balls, becoming the youngest half-centurion in the IPL. He continued his onslaught to notch up his maiden IPL ton off the next 18 balls.
Suryavanshi went berserk against Afghanistan’s Janat in the 10th over of RR’s chase as he smashed him for three sixes and as many fours to get 30 runs off the over and complete his century off just 35 balls. He smashed the second-fastest century in IPL history, missing out on Chris Gayle’s all-time record by just 5 balls. He also broke Yusuf Pathan’s record for the fastest century by an Indian in the tournament.
