Premier League 2024/25: Omar Marmoush gets his second consecutive league start against Arsenal

New Delhi: Manchester City and Arsenal will be meeting at Emirates in an interesting and a rather important Premier League clash that could play a massive role in the title race as well as the race to Champions League football. Considering the importance of this game, it is a no brainer that both the managers will be looking to bring their best lineup into play. Pep Guardiola’s talented squad had some big injury problems from the very beginning of the campaign, and let’s not forget that in the reverse fixture at Etihad, it was City’s star man Rodri who suffered that famous injury which according to many became one of the main reasons behind City’s horrible run of form at the end of the year 2024.

However, since then City have managed to pull themselves back a little, but still have a long way to go and tonight, Pep Guardiola has yet again relied on his new signing Omar Marmoush to deliver the goods upfront. The Egyptian only made his move a few weeks back and was instantly utilised in the game against Chelsea, where he had a more than decent performance. However, only Marmoush out of the three signings that City have made, will be starting tonight, with Eis and Khusanov both on the bench.

How are the two sides lining up?

Although we won’t call this City’s strongest lineup, with star defender Ruben Dias out injured, leaving the backline a lot more vulnerable, City might just conjure up something from their attack. However, another surprising decision by Pep Guardiola would be keeping Kevin De Bruyne out of the starting lineup, on the bench. With the Belgian maestro on the bench, Marmoush will be playing behind Haaland just the way he did against Chelsea, with Savinho and Foden around him at the flanks.

Bernardo Silva and Matteo Kovacic will complete the midfield in the deep while the central defence duo of Manuel Akanji and John Stones will be joined by Gvardiol on the left and Matheus Nunes on the right with Ortega in between the sticks. Talking about Arsenal, David Raya returns to guard the goal for Mikel Arteta’s side with Jurrien Timber and Lewis-Skelly guarding the flanks. The tough defensive duo of Gabriel and Saliba would cause Erling Haaland some real troubles. Rice, Partey and Odegaard complete the midfield three while Havertz leads the forward line with Martinelli and Trossard at the flanks.

In a pivotal Premier League matchup with Arsenal, Omar Marmoush has earned his second straight Premier League start for Manchester City, as they look to extend their unbeaten run in the league to seven.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
