New Delhi: India beat England by 150 runs in the fifth T20I match against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on February 2, Sunday. Abhishek Sharma recorded the highest-ever individual score for India in T20Is as he scored 135 runs in just 54 balls.
England won the toss and invited India to bat first for the first time in the series. Abhishek Sharma played a hell of an innings and broke many records during the fifth T20I match of the series against England. Firstly, he registered the second-fastest half century for India in T20Is as he scored his half-century in just 17 balls.
Abhishek smashed 13 sixes in his innings, which is the most by any Indian in a T20I match. The 24-year-old batter reached his century in just 37 balls and recorded the second-fastest century for India in T20Is.
Shivam Dube also played a cameo of 30 runs in just 13 balls. Men in Blue finished their innings with 247 runs in 20 overs.
In response, England’s opener Phil Salt started the innings aggressively and attacked Mohammad Shami for 17 runs in the first over. Shami made a comeback in his second over as he dismissed Ben Duckett for a golden duck.
England batters were throwing their wickets, but Salt kept attacking the Indian bowlers and smashed his half-century in just 21 balls. Varun Chakravarthy again shone with the ball as he took two wickets.
Abhishek carried his momentum in the second innings as well and picked up two wickets in a single over. Apart from Jacob Bethell and Salt, no English batter touched a double-digit score.
