New Delhi: Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh revealed how the ‘Jasprit Bumrah nightmare’ continued to him at home after the conclusion of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia. Marsh revealed his 4-year-old nephew tried imitating Bumrah’s action while he was enjoying some backyard cricket with him at his house.
Marsh hilariously recalled the incident while speaking at the Australian Cricket Awards. Bumrah was a nightmare for the Australian batters in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as the Indian pacer picked up 32 wickets in five Tests. Bumrah was on top of his game throughout the series and broke numerous records with his bowling heroics.
He shattered the record for most wickets by an Indian bowler in a Test series in Australia despite not bowling at all due to a back injury during Australia’s second innings in the 5th Test in Sydney. Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Series for his bowling heroics despite India lost the five-match series 3-1. He also captained the visitors to their only victory in the 1st Test in Perth.
“My nephew Ted is four years old. We were playing backyard cricket the other day and he came to me with Bum’s (Jasprit Bumrah) action. And nightmare continued,” Marsh joked while speaking at the Australian Cricket Awards. A clip of Marsh’s honest admission went viral on social media.

Mitchell Marsh’s forgetful Test series against India
Marsh was dismissed thrice by Bumrah in the four Test matches he played against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The Australian all-rounder endured a dismal campaign in the Test series as he struggled with the bat and failed to contribute much with the ball. Marsh managed only 73 runs in four Test matches against the visitors and picked up only 3 wickets in the series.
He was eventually dropped from the fifth and final Test match against India in Sydney with Beau Webster taking his place in the playing XI. Webster shone in his only appearance in the series with a half-century and an unbeaten 39 in the two innings in the Sydney Test to help Australia win the Test match by six wickets and clinch the series 3-1.
Marsh is currently recovering from a back injury and has been ruled out of the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. He is also doubtful to take part in the Indian Premeir League (IPL) 2025.
Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh revaled how his 4-year-old nephew ensured the ‘Jasprit Bumrah nightmare’ came back to haunt him while playing backyard cricket at home after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
