New Delhi: After his heroics during the week, Real Madrid sensation Gonzalo Garcia identified Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo as his idols. On the bench, the Spaniard began Wednesday’s Copa del Rey quarterfinal matchup with Leganes. Garcia had not yet made an appearance for Los Blancos this season, despite spending four stints on the bench. Last season, the 20-year-old earned his first appearance for the La Liga winners.

He only made two appearances for the senior side, but there a good signs from the youngster and Carlo Ancelotti might consider giving him more minutes on the pitch. The 20-year-old is already considered to be the next big thing coming out of Real Madrid Castilla, where he has been a star performer this season. He is already a crucial player for the youth side, where he has been scoring goals for fun.

However, in the added time, Valverde found Brahim with a deft pass after spotting his overlapping run down the right side of the area. Garcia jumped and nodded into the top corner after the Moroccan held the ball well, waited for the ideal opportunity, and then clipped in a beautiful, floating cross towards the near post. There was the final score as Garcia became Real Madrid’s hero for the night.
