New Delhi: Star fast bowler Arshdeep Singh registered a big feat by taking the most wickets for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL). He achieved the major milestone during the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and PBKS at the iconic M Chinnaswamy stadium on Friday. The pacer, who entered the game with 84 wickets to his name, dismissed Phil Salt (4) to take his 85th wicket for the franchise.
Arshdeep thus surpassed former leg-spinner Piyush Chawla’s tally of 84 wickets to become the highest wicket-taker for Punjab. The left-arm seamer bowled a back-of-a-length ball, and Salt tried to pull it for a big hit but ended up with a top edge which was taken by Jos Inglis. The Punjab pacer followed it up by claiming the big wicket of Virat Kohli in his next over to take his tally to 86 wickets.
In the rain-curtailed IPL match, RCB lost the track batting first losing a flurry of wickets in quick succession. Both the sides would be looking for win in this encounter as they both have four wins and two losses in the six games played so far. Arshdeep, who has only played for Punjab since his IPL debut, is one of the two bowlers who have picked up a fifer for the franchise.
