The pressure is on! Man United boss Ruben Amorim admits he’s ‘fighting for his job’

New Delhi: Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has admitted that he was “fighting” to retain his role at Old Trafford in the second half of the season and admitted that the side had taken a huge risk with their signing in the winter transfer window. Since taking over in November, Ruben Amorim has lost seven of the 13 Premier League games he has led in.

While there are no indications that despite the team’s performance under him, which includes five losses to Old Trafford in the top flight, has put the Portuguese manager’s job at United at risk, Amorim has said that everyone is under the scanner. Before heading for the FA Cup game against Leicester City, Amorim admitted that everyone was fighting for their job until the summer.

Amorim noted that his profession involved lots of risk in terms of “results” and looking at United’s schedule and the team at his disposal the 40-year-old always knew the challenge that was coming his way. Amorim was also aware that “changing things” during an ongoing season wasn’t going to be easy. Still, the former Sporting coach said he has taken risks in order to turn around results for the side.

Amorim reiterated that he knew that being a sport that revolves around results means that United are in a spot of bother. Many are worried that United have tough times coming their way until summer owing to the club’s lack of business during the winter transfer window.

Defenders Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu have made their way to Old Trafford however, Amorim has limited attacking options this season after the departures of Antony and Marcus Rashfrod. The team has been struggling to score consistently and the Red Devils boss has noted that the careful approach during January may have been “a risk” instead.

Amorim has confirmed that this was his decision and was the way that United collectively wanted to go forward. Amorim said that he wanted to win games and there was time to train, something that he has complained about in the past.

Amorim has said that he wanted a typical type of profile even if they had a “different profile” and they were changing towards the right direction. Since Rashford’s loan move to Aston Villa until the end of the season, this was Amorim’s first interaction with the media. Amorim had to respond to many questions regarding the English international over the course of the last few months and joked that it was Villa coach Unai Emery’s head and he was focusing on his team.

Since taking over Manchester United’s helms, Ruben Amorim has lost seven of 13 games at the Premier League and feels that he will be under the scanner until summer.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
