New Delhi: WWE Royal Rumble 2025 became one of the biggest events in the company’s history, generating record viewership and revenue. The event was held on February 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium and was attended by 70,347 fans. However, the independent reports from WrestleTix placed the event’s attendance at 67,950 but still, it has surpassed the previous attendance record of Royal Rumble 60,477 set in 1997.
During the post-show press conference, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H confirmed that the Royal Rumble 2025 generated revenue of approximately $17 million in ticket sales. This makes the event the highest-grossing Royal Rumble in the history of WWE and the third-highest overall. The 2025 Royal Rumble also holds the record for the biggest single-night gate in WWE’s history.
The fans from all 50 U.S. states and 48 countries attended the event. WWE also set new records in merchandise and sponsorship making it a huge success on many fronts. The merchandise sales increased by 95% compared to last year’s Royal Rumble and the sponsorship revenue also up by 94%, with all the matches featuring commercial partners.
Record-breaking viewership
WWE’s outstanding success extended beyond the arena, as the 2025 Royal Rumble set new records in viewership across the globe. The USA’s broadcaster Peacock’s number increased by nearly 14% to the previous record. The international viewership also surged even higher due to WWE’s new global deal with Netflix.
Despite some earlier doubts about Netflix’s foray into live sports especially after a disappointing streaming of the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson match, the partnership with WWE has already broken multiple records. WWE also set another milestone at this year’s Royal Rumble on social media as the company has managed to blend its universe with mainstream culture as celebrities or athletes continuously feature on events.
In Royal Rumble 2025, popular YouTube streamer IShowSpeed featured in the event and received a devastating spear from Bron Breakker. The moment got viral on social media and became the most-watched Royal Rumble clip in history, generating more than 300 million views in a single day.
