New Delhi: A day ahead of the second ODI against England, three Indian cricket players Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel paid a visit to the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri to seek blessing before the match. All the three players sought the blessings of the trinity – Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath early in the morning amid tight security.

Police personnel escorted all the three Indian players ensuring smooth darshan of the deities, confirmed the police. After the darshan, players had a word with the media and said that they were delighted after visiting the revered temple. ‘The darshan was very good,’ Washington Sundar said.

Net practice session to start in the afternoon

Meanwhile, the members of the Indian cricket team are scheduled to visit the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack for the net practice session in the afternoon. The security has been tightened for the swift movement of the players between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh confirmed that the players will go to the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack for practice session and a traffic advisory has been issued for the convenience of the general public.

Team India will look to seal the series when they face off England in the second ODI on Sunday while the English side will look to bounce back in the second match to keep the series alive in the third. India produced a tremendous all-round effort with the bat and ball to to register a 4-wicket victory in the opening ODI of the series in Nagpur.

Shubman Gill, Axar Patel and Shreyas Iyer stood out with the bat with fabulous performances while Ravindra Jadeja and Harshit Rana picked three wickets apiece to destroy the English bowling line up. Rohit Sharma, though, again failed to make an impact with the bat as his lean patch continued.
