New Delhi: India’s Anshul Jubli had a nightmarish return to the Octagon as he was brutally knocked out inside just 19 seconds by Australia’s Quillan Salkilld in the lightweight showdown between the duo in UFC 312. Salkid and Jubli went up against each other in the first bout to open the fight card at UFC 312 which took place at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. on Sunday.
Expectations were high from Jubli as he was making his comeback to the UFC after over a year while Salkilld was making his UFC debut, heading into the fight against the Indian on a 7-match winning streak. However, the Indian failed to impress as Salkilld continued his winning streak in style. The Australian stunned Jubli with a solid right-hand punch that floored the Indian just 19 seconds into their fight.
The referee stopped the fight immediately after Jubli went on the floor, deeming Salkilld the winner by a knockout. The replays did show Jubli trying to grab Salkilld’s leg after falling to the ground. However, he was stopped by the referee. The Indian protested against the 19-second stoppage decision but to no avail as Salkilld enjoyed a dream debut at UFC 312.

Anshul Jubli’s old comments about Khabib Nurmagomedov go viral
After his defeat, Jubli’s old comments against the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov came back to haunt the Indian fighter, who was mocked by the fans over his 19-second knockout at UFC 312. In his appearance on a podcast, Jubli made some tall claims about how he felt there was no difference between him and Khabib, the longest-reigning UFC Lightweight Champion ever with a 29-0 record.
On the podcast, Jubli also went on to claim that he could also submit the legendary Russian fighter if he managed to survive a round against him. A clip of his comments is being widely shared by MMA fans, who are criticising the Indian for his tall claims and poor performances.

This was Jubli’s second consecutive defeat in just two bouts in the UFC. He was knocked out by Mike Breeden on his UFC debut in October 2023. Jubli is yet to earn his first win in UFC and it might be a long wait for him to get another chance in search of that elusive maiden victory.
