New Delhi: Rohit Sharma registered another big milestone during the second ODI match against England at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday, February 9. He surpassed former head coach Rahul Dravid in the list of most runs scored by Indian batters in ODI cricket.
Dravid finished his ODI career with 10,889 runs in 344 ODI matches (including games played for Asia XI and ICC World XI) and Rohit needed just 22 runs to surpass his numbers. He smashed a maximum over long-off to get past Dravid’s record. Chasing the target of 305 runs, the Indian captain has scored a half-century in 30 balls in the second ODI match against England and is looking to hit a century.

Rohit also became the second most prolific six-hitter in the history of the 50-over format. He was level with Chris Gayle on 331 maximums ahead of the second ODI match and surpassed the West Indies opener when he smashed a six-over midwicket in the second over of India’s run chase.
Pakistan’s all-rounder Shahid Afridi is in the first position on the list of batters with the most sixes in ODI cricket. He smashed 351 maximums in 398 innings in the 50-over format. However, the Indian skipper holds the record for most sixes across all formats. He has smashed 624 sixes across Test, ODI and T20I matches. The Indian captain has also smashed the most sixes in T20 internationals with 205 maximums to his name in 151 innings.
