New Delhi: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was left fuming after pacer Harshit Rana made a silly overthrow that gifted England a boundary during the 2nd ODI between the two sides at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha on Sunday, February 09. The incident took place in the 32nd over of England’s innings when Rana was bowling against England skipper Jos Buttler.
Having dismissed Hary Brook in his previous over, Rana was looking in good rhythm as he put Buttler under pressure with four consecutive dot deliveries in the 32nd over. However, the Indian pacer ended up wasting an opportunity to capitalise by gifting a boundary to England on the next delivery. He bowled another dot ball next but ended up spoiling it himself with a poor overthrow.
Buttler was slightly out of his crease trying to defend the ball from Rana, who collected the ball in a jiffy in his followthrough and sent a wayward throw towards the stumps. The ball was way out of keeper KL Rahul’s reach and raced away to the boundary rope for a four. Rohit was absolutely livid at the pacer’s mistake and gave him an earful.
“Dimaag Kidhar hai tera? Kidhar maar ra hai (Have you lost your mind? Where were you trying to hit?),” Rohit was heard telling Rana on the stump-mic after his shocking throw. “Kab sheekhoge yar (When will you learn),” Rohit added. The clip of the incident went viral on social media.
