New Delhi: Team India defeated Bangladesh by 86 runs in the second T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday. The Men in Blue took a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Suryakumar Yadav and Co. dominated the match and delivered a brilliant performance. After losing the toss, the Indian openers tried to provide their team a flying start but failed to do so as Taskin Ahmed removed Sanju Samson on 10 runs.

While Tanzim Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman also dismissed Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav cheaply. But Nitish Reddy and Rinku stepped up and stitched a crucial 108-run partnership. Nitish notched up 74 runs off 34 balls, his remarkable knock was laced with seven maximums and four boundaries.

Rinku Singh also scored 53 runs off 29 balls with the help of three maximums and five boundaries. Hardik Pandya also played a crucial cameo and scored 32 runs off 19 balls.

Chasing the target of 222 runs, Najmul Shanto and Co. only managed to score 135 runs in the 20 overs. All-rounder Mahmudullah scored 41 runs off 39 balls but other batters failed to contribute to the run chase. Nitish and Varun Chakaravarthy took two wickets each while Arshdeep, Sundar, Abhishek, Mayank and Parag picked up one wicket each.

‘I wanted my middle-order to bat under pressure’: Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav

After the match, Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav said that he wanted his middle order to bat under pressure and express themselves. Suryakumar praised Rinku and Nitish and said they batted exactly the way he wanted

“I wanted that situation. I wanted my middle-order (5, 6, 7) to bat under pressure and express themselves. I’m really happy with the way Rinku and Nitish played. They batted exactly as I wanted” Suryakumar Yadav said in the post-match presentation.

The Indian captain also lauded his bowlers and said he wanted to see what they could do in various situations. The Indian team will face Bangladesh in the third and last T20I of the series on Saturday, October 12.
