New Delhi: Novak Djokovic has made a remarkable recovery in just over a fortnight from a injury scare he suffered at the Australian Open 2025.  The 37-year-old Serbian ace had retired hurt from the semifinal because of a torn muscle in his left leg after losing the first set of his Australian Open semifinal against Alexander Zverev.

But the 24-time Grand Slam winner has sent a wave of relief through his fans by confirming that he has nearly 100% healed from the hamstring injury and is ready to begin another chapter in his illustrious career.

“The muscle tear is gone. The injury is almost 100% healed, and I’m ready to chase new achievements,” Djokovic told Montenegrin newspaper Vijesti.

“I have the green light from the medical team to train and prepare. The tournament in Doha starts in seven days, and I’m sticking to the plan. Thank God I managed to recover quickly.”

Djokovic’s rapid recovery has left the fans in shock. Due to his age and the extent of injury, there were fears he could miss months of action but 24-time Grand Slam champion, with his sooner than expected return, has once again shown his never-say-die attitude.

The swift comeback has raised hopes of another ATP title at the competition in Doha starting next week.

Djokovic defies all odds

After the heartbreaking exit in his 11th Australian Open semifinal where he fought hard in the opening set, but eventually retired hurt after losing a marathon 80-minute tiebreaker, Djokovic has defied all the odds, yet again in his career, in typical fashion. Following the injury retirement, Djokovic shared an MRI which confirmed a hamstring tear, raising fears that he would be out for months.

According to reports, Djokovic’s team worked day and night to fix the rupture in his left leg with treatments and therapies.

Djokovic skipper Serbia’s Davis Cup tie against Denmark and focused only on rehabilitation. That decision has worked wonders as he is ready to return to the court aiming for his is 100th ATP title.
