New Delhi: The Indian men’s cricket team is reportedly said to play on a fresh wicket in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. India will play all of their three group stage matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which is contrary to all other seven teams playing in Pakistan.

The designated venue has been regularly hosting matches in the last five months. Notably, major tournaments such as the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 followed by the U19 Asia Cup. The latest of the lot was hosting 15 matches of the International League T20 (ILT20) 2025.

The Dubai stadium also staged the Qualifier 1 match between Desert Vipers and Dubai Capitals and the final match between the same teams on February 9.

India will start their campaign in the Champions Trophy on February 20 with the match against Bangladesh. This will be followed with the most anticipating fixture of the tournament against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday (February 23). The Men in Blue then play the last league game against New Zealand on March 2 (another Sunday).

While it was highly-assumed that the Indian team will be given worn and torn tracks to play, there are reports which indicated that Rohit Sharma and his men have been reserved with two pitches in fresh conditions.

“There are 10 match strips at the DICS. During the league stage, there was specific instructions that those two won’t be used now and needed to be kept fresh for the Champions Trophy,” a source close to the developments of things has told news agency PTI.

“However, whether any of the two (pitches) was used for the play-offs isn’t known. The idea is to ensure that it doesn’t become low and slow after over-use and matches become drag. The fresh pitches will aid the batters and bowlers in equal measure,” he added.

India finished as the runners-up in the previous edition of the ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales. The team lost to Pakistan in the final by a heavy margin of 180 runs.

The Indian men’s cricket team will play their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 group stage matches on fresh pitches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The fresh pitches, reportedly reserved specifically for the tournament, aim to provide a balanced playing surface for both batters and bowlers.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
