New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the first look of the Indian men cricket team’s glaring jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 just a couple of days before the commencement of the tournament. The pictures of the jersey were shared by the Indian cricket board across its social media platforms on Monday (February 17).

On the very same day, the International Cricket Council (ICC), the global governing body of the sport, shared the pictures of Indian players in the new uniform while presenting them caps (for the awards from the previous calendar year). Rohit Sharma (T20I Team of the Year), Ravindra Jadeja Test Team of the Year), Hardik Pandya (T20I Team of the Year), and Arshdeep Singh (T20I Team Of The Year & Men’s T20I Player Of The Year) featured in ICC’s post.

The BCCI shared a series of images where most of the players of the squad donned the jerseys in a special photo shoot.

Unsurprisingly, the Indian team jerseys featured the tournament logo with the imprint of Pakistan, the host country of the tournament, on it. The full text is ‘ICC Champions Trophy 2025’ with the word ICC is presented in the centre of the letter ‘P’ in a fashionable logo.

This was contrary to the earlier reports that suggested that the Indian team won’t wear jerseys featuring the imprint of Pakistan on the logo. However, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, in conversation with IndiaToday.in, dismissed the claims and said that BCCI will follow the guidelines of ICC regarding the jersey and its logo.

The animosity between the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has intensified in recent times amid the political tensions between the two neighbouring nations. The Indian board declined to sent Indian team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy citing government’s strong stance on security concerns.

Consequently, the ICC came to a conclusion to host India and Pakistan matches at a neutral venue whenever the two nations will host an ICC tournament.

In the latest episode between the two boards, the PCB faced flak for not putting up the Indian national flag on the top of a stand at the National Stadium in Karachi. However, a PCB source, in conversation to news agency IANS, stated that the board has only put up flags of all the participating nations playing in Pakistan given that India will play all of their fixtures in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The BCCI unveiled India’s new jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, featuring the tournament logo including Pakistan’s imprint. Indian players Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Arshdeep Singh also featured on ICC’s post in the new uniform.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
