Everton vs Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes continues form against Toffees

New Delhi: Bruno Fernandes has always liked playing against Everton, scoring in the 72nd minute of the game, after Manchester United were 2-0 down in the first half itself. With United looking like they were close to losing all three points, United’s captain scored from a well-taken free-kick from right outside the box.

The Red Devils hadn’t scored from a direct free-kick in nearly three years, their last scorer being Cristiano Ronaldo who scored against Norwich in 2022. His Portuguese teammate, Fernando has always enjoyed playing against the Toffees having scored six times and made five assists across 11 games, which is the most goal involvement against a Premier League team.

Manchester United are currently struggling at the top flight having failed to win in the Premier League since January when they edged away with a 1-0 win over Fulham. Collecting just 30 points in the season, United are currently sitting in the 15th place in the Premier League table. Fans and experts are worried that United could be relegated from the top flight for the first time since the 1973-74 season.

Fernandes’s strike was followed by Manuel Ugarte’s strike in the 80th minute, which helped United secure a 2-2 draw against Everton who at one point were looking close to taking home all three points. David Moyes has enjoyed a decent run in his return to Everton, as he remains unbeaten in six Premier League games in a row.

Ruben Amorim’s continued trouble at Man United

Ruben Amorim’s tenure at Old Trafford hasn’t been an easy one having won just four in 15 Premier League games since taking over the side’s charge from Erik Ten Hag at the end of November last year. The draw against Everton means United are unbeaten against the Toffees in their last seven encounters.

Amorim himself has said that the results have been way below his expectations. With a side that is suffering heavily from injuries, against Everton three of his star players made a return with Ugarte along with Christian Eriksen and Leny Yoro all coming back from spending time at the sideline.

Bruno Fernandes has now scored six times and made five assists in 11 games against Everton as Manchester United pull off a late draw against the Toffees.  Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
