New Delhi: Australia defeated England by five wickets in their first match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. A marvellous century knock from Jos Inglis and the vital contribution of Alex Carey as the team registered its first win in the Champions Trophy in 2009 to end their six-match winless streak.

With 352 runs asked to chase, Inglis scored an unbeaten sublime ton (120 not out) and Carey played the helping hand around him in this daunting task by adding an impressive 69 from 63 balls. The destructive Glenn Maxwell came to provide the finishing touches, smashing 32 off 15 balls.
