New Delhi: Pakistan cricket team continues to face criticism after their shambolic show in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. After losing to New Zealand in their opening game and then suffering a huge defeat against arch-rivals India, the Men in Green exited the showpiece event after two back-to-back defeats in the league stage.
Legendary Indian cricketer and commentator Sunil Gavaskar has launched a scathing attack on the Men in Green saying that in the current condition, they are not even capable of beating India B side. Interacting with Sports Today, the veteran Indian batter said that the Men in Green are not at all capable of beating the India B as well. He further said that he is not sure about the India C team but India B can give them a run for their money.
Lack of bench strength: Gavaskar
Sunil Gavaskar said that there is lack of bench strength in their side which is the main reason for the team to get knocked out out the event. Commenting further, Gavaskar said that Pakistan were never technically correct but always possessed an instinctive understanding of the bat and ball. He lauded the side saying that they were always known to have natural talent but that was lacking in the event.
Pakistan is hosting the first big event since 1996 and since winning the Champions Trophy in 2017, their fortunes have declined as they have not been able to perform well in any of the big ICC events. The Men in Green displayed a below-par performance in the last two World Cups as well (ODI and T20) finishing poorly on the points table.
Giving an example of one of their great batters Inzamam-ul-Haq, he said that the kind of temperament he had was exceptional and that was vividly visible with the kind of his batting stance. Gavaskar also noted that despite the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and domestic white-ball tournaments, Pakistan has struggled to produce quality players.
After losing their opening league match against New Zealand, Pakistan faced a big defeat against arch-rivals India which knocked them out of the tournament. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
