New Delhi: Opening Indian batter Shubman Gill has consolidated his position at the top of the latest ODI rankings released on Wednesday. After dethroning Pakistan’s Babar Azam from the top spot last week, Gill continued to dominated the latest ICC rankings in back of his pivotal role in India’s last Champions Trophy 2025 match against arch-rivals Pakistan.
India beat Pakistan by six wickets to qualify for the semifinals of the event with Gill scoring a wonderful 46-run knock in the Group A encounter. In India’s campaign opening match against Bangladesh, Gill had powered India to a big win post his match-winning 101. Meanwhile, on back of his recent performances, the dashing batter has gained 21 rating points and moved to 817 rating points, increasing the gap with second-placed Babar from 23 to 47 points.
Virat Kohli’s jump
Apart from Gill, star Indian batter Virat Kohli, who roared back to form with an unbeaten century in the match against Pakistan has jumped to the fifth position after overtaking Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand. Kohli’s role was pivotal in India’s win over the rivals as he steered his innings to perfection also smashing the winning shot. On the other hand KL Rahul has also moved up two places to the 15th rank after notching an unbeaten 41-run knock against Bangladesh.
Apart from the Indian batters, New Zealand’s Will Young has gained eight places to occupy the 14th spot while Tom Latham is up by 11 places to the 30th position. Both the batters have made gains on back of their centuries against Pakistan in their Champions Trophy clash while talented Rachin Ravindra’s hundred against Bangladesh has lifted him 18 spots to 24th position. Glenn Phillips is another Black caps batter who has gained 12 spots to occupy the 28th position.
On the other hand in the bowling rankings, Keshav Maharaj and Matt Henry have entered the top five of the rankings while Adam Zampa has moved to the 10th position after claiming two wickets against England in their thrilling CT 2025 Group B contest.
