New Delhi: Hosting an ICC tournament for the first time in 29 years, Pakistan ended their dismal Champions Trophy 2025 campaign without registering a single victory after the league match between the hosts and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was called off without a ball being bowled due to incessant rain.
It was the same case for Bangladesh who also concluded their journey without a win and will return home with plenty to ponder as both teams shared a point each after the washout.
For Pakistan, it was an event to forget as most of the pre-tournament build-up focused on their preparation and security. While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did a commendable job under pressure to renovate the stadiums in time for the tournament, the fact that the home side featured in just a single match on their home soil is a matter of embarrassment for the country.
The defending champions attracted criticism for their disastrous outing in the tournament, which included a 60-run defeat against New Zealand in the opener and a six-wicket defeat at the hands of traditional rivals India in Dubai.
