New Delhi: In what comes as a huge blow for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), India’s pace sensation Mayank Yadav is set to miss the first half of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Mayank was retained by LSG for Rs 11 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction last year after making an impressive debut for the franchise last season.
Mayank played only 4 matches in IPL 2024 but won two Player of the Match awards and impressed with his raw pace and skills to convince the LSG team management to retain him ahead of the new season. Mayank made waves with his ability to consistently clock 150kph in IPL 2024 and also displayed his control over his line and length.
The young pacer was sidelined after playing only 4 matches due to an injury and went on to miss the remainder of IPL 2024. However, he was fast-tracked into the Indian team and made his T20I debut for the Men in Blue in the home series against Bangladesh last year. The right-arm pacer picked up another injury during the series, which ruled him out of action.
As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, Mayank is recovering from a lumbar stress injury and is currently undergoing rehab at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Though he has resumed bowling, he will only get a green signal from the medical staff if he manages to meet all fitness parameters and develops bowling workload. The pacer is thus set to miss the first half of IPL 2025 for LSG.
