New Delhi: The registration of Barcelona’s Dani Olmo is anticipated to be finalised within the “next few days,” a confirmation issued by the president of Spain’s Football Council. Olmo is currently playing on an emergency license granted by CSD in January after La Liga rejected Barca’s attempts to extend his contract.
Barcelona argued that they had submitted the necessary documents in time to extend Olmo’s license but La Liga stated that players cannot be resigned in the same season and blocked Olmo from playing for the club. This was followed by a tense legal battle which saw Catalans appeal directly to the government whose supportive division determined that Olmo could maintain his playing status during the ongoing debate surrounding the final verdict.
According to Mundo Depotivo, the president of the CSD, Jose Manuel Rodriguez Uribes has said that a final decision will be made “in the coming days”. Notwithstanding the lack of favour from several clubs regarding the continued play for the Catalans by the 26-year-old, who boasts a record of seven goals and five assists across all competitions, the CSD president disclosed that Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, played a role in their fierce rivals securing a temporary extension for Olmo’s license.

Uribes remarked, “ Football is sometimes very funny, it raises curious questions.” He elaborated saying, “Real Madrid seems, according to some reports, to be delighted with Dani Olmo. This is the world upside down, but, well, what Real Madrid did was respect the CSD’s decision and I am very grateful for that. By the way, not only Real Madrid, but 80% or 90% of the clubs understood it.”
The deadline for the decision is April 7 but it seems like a final decision may arrive before the final day which means the saga is set to end shortly.
Dani Olmo received a temporary license in January despite club objections. Now, CSD confirms Barcelona’s registration battle is nearing a final decision. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
