Both KKR and RR lost their respective opening matches of the season and will be looking to bounce back to winning ways.
Kolkata Knight Riders were handed a huge setback ahead of the crucial encounter as spinner Sunil Narine was ruled out of the clash. Narine is one of the vital cogs in KKR’s bowling attack, and his absence will be a huge miss for the Ajinkya Rahane-led side. Skipper Rahane confirmed at the toss that Narine was missing the game as he was not well.
The West Indies star featured in KKR’s opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) where he opened the batting with Quinton de Kock and smashed 44 runs off just 26 balls. He finished with figures of 1/27 off his 4 overs with the ball. However, KKR ended up losing the game 7 wickets after failing to defend the total of 174 runs at the Eden Gardens.
