Mumbai: The sacred month of Vaishakh has begun, as per the Vedic calendar, from 13 April and will continue until 12 May 2025. Vaishakh is regarded as one of the holiest months in the Hindu tradition, dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Following Chaitra, Vaishakh is considered the second month in the Hindu calendar and is associated with religious observances and spiritual purification.
One of the most significant observances during this period is Ekadashi – a bi-monthly fasting day revered for its spiritual importance. Observing Ekadashi during Vaishakh is believed to absolve sins and attract the blessings of Lord Vishnu. This year, two important Ekadashi fasts—Varuthini Ekadashi and Mohini Ekadashi—will be observed in April and May, respectively.
Varuthini Ekadashi 2025 Date and Timing
According to the Vedic Panchang, Varuthini Ekadashi, observed during the Krishna Paksha (waning phase), will begin on 23 April at 4:43 PM and end on 24 April at 2:32 PM. Devotees will observe the fast on 24 April 2025.
Vrat Parana (Breaking of the Fast): The Parana (breaking of the fast) is done on the following day, during the Dwadashi tithi. For Varuthini Ekadashi, Parana time falls on 25 April between 5:46 AM and 8:23 AM.
Mohini Ekadashi 2025 Date and Timing
Mohini Ekadashi, observed during the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase), will begin on 7 May at 10:19 AM and end on 8 May at 12:19 PM. The fast will be observed on 8 May 2025.
Vrat Parana (Breaking of the Fast): Devotees can break the fast on 9 May from 5:34 AM to 8:16 AM. It is considered highly auspicious to donate food, clothes, or essentials to temples or the needy after breaking the fast, as it is believed to enhance the merit of the vrat.
