New Delhi: In the aftermath of the ghastly terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam, former Indian cricketer Shreevats Goswami has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to sever all cricketing ties with Pakistan. Hitting back at the critics who had earlier questioned BCCI’s decision to send the Indian team to Pakistan, Goswami said India should never play cricket with Pakistan again.
He took to social media to share a strongly worded post in the wake of the terror attack in Pahalgam. At least 36 people were killed and several others injured in an attack on tourists in Pahalgam on Wednesday, April 22, leaving the entire nation shocked. Several notable celebrities, including cricketers, have since taken to social media to condemn the cowardly attack on the innocent.
Goswami also condemned the terror attack and took to social media to urge the BCCI to stop playing any sort of cricket with Pakistan. India and Pakistan currently don’t play bilateral cricket against each other, and continue to meet only in major ICC events and the Asia Cup. Earlier this year, BCCI refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025, with the Rohit Sharma-led India playing all their matches in Dubai.
“SAY NO TO CRICKET ! And this is exactly why I say – you don’t play cricket with Pakistan. Not now. Not ever. When BCCI or the government refused to send India to the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, some had the audacity to say, ‘Oh, but sport should rise above politics.’ Really? Because from where I stand, murdering innocent Indians seems to be their national sport. And if that’s how they play – then it’s time we respond in a language they truly understand. Not with bats and balls. But with resolve. With dignity. With zero tolerance,” Goswami wrote in a post on his X account.

Will BCCI act against Pakistan?
The calls for ending all cricketing ties with Pakistan have grown louder in the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam, with many urging the BCCI to act. However, it remains to be seen if the BCCI and the Indian government will take any action regarding the cricketing ties between the two countries.
India is scheduled to host the Women’s ODI World Cup in October-November this year. Pakistan is unlikely to travel to India for the tournament after the two cricketing boards signed an agreement earlier this year that the teams will not travel to each other’s country for ICC events till 2028 after India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025.
A former Indian cricketer has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to suspend all cricketing ties with Pakistan and say no to playing cricket with the country in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.
