New Delhi: Rohit Sharma completed 6000 runs for Mumbai Indians in T20 tournaments in their IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals on Thursday. He became the second batter after Virat Kohli to reach the mark for a T20 franchise.
Kohli has scored 8871 runs for Royal Challengers since 2008 and Sharma is the first batter to reach the landmark of 6000 runs for Mumbai (in IPL and the defunct Champions League T20).
Before going into bat at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur, Sharma needed 29 runs to reach the mark and he completed it with consecutive boundaries off Kumar Kartikeya in the ninth over of Mumbai’s innings.
Sharma is the leading scorer for Mumbai, for whom he has played since 2011 and captained them to joint-best five IPL titles. In 262 innings of 267 runs, the right hander had scored 6921 runs for Mumbai and Deccan Chargers in the IPL, at an average of 29.83 and strike rate of 132.00, including two hundreds and 46 half centuries.

During his 36-ball 53-run knock that included nine boundaries, Sharma also completed 3,000 runs as an opener in the IPL, reaching the mark with his 12th run in the match.
He was dismissed in the 13th over, caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal off Riyan Parag. The opener was off to a slow start in IPL 2025 with scores of 0, 8, 13, 17, and 18 but has turned it around with scores of 26, 76 not out, 70, 12 and 53 in his last five knocks.
