New Delhi: Gujarat Titans (GT) displayed all-round class to hammer Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 38 runs in the 51st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Friday. After a sensational batting display by captain Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna bowled extremely well to restrict the visitors to 186/6 in the stipulated 20 overs.
Chasing a target of 225, opener and lethal batter Abhishek Sharma sizzled with a 41-ball 74-run knock after Australian Travis Head was removed early for just 20 runs. The rest of the batting line up failed to deliver for the side as Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen could only come up with 13 and 23 runs respectively.
Nitish Kumar Reddy tries his hand with the bat with a quick 21-run knock but it wasn’t sufficient to help Sunrisers cross the finish line. Skipper Pat Cummins also scored swift 19 runs while Aniket Verma (3) failed to showcase skills. This was Gujarat’s seventh win in 10 matches and they climbed to the second spot on points table while Sunrisers are down at ninth with just 3 wins in 10 games.
Batters shine for Titans
Earlier batting first, the Titans scored a mammoth 224 runs with Buttler scoring a brilliant 64 off 37 balls with 4 sixes and 3 boundaries. Apart from Buttler, skipper Shubman Gill blasted the Hyderabad bowlers with a score of 76 runs in just 38 balls which included 10 fours and 2 sixes. Opener Sai Sudharsan also contributed with 48 runs off just 23 balls to power his side to a massive total. Washington Sundar also scored 21 runs.
For the SRH side, Jaydev Unadkat produced a brilliant spell claiming three wickets while skipper Pat Cummins and bowler Zeeshan Ansari picked a wicket each.
