It is understood that Aston Villa were amenable to playing Spurs on the earlier date, which coincides with their final home game of the season. However, no specific comment from Villa was included in the statement released on Tuesday confirming the new schedule.

While Spurs had initially proposed moving the game to the evening of May 16th, the Premier League confirmed the May 17th date and a revised kick-off time for the fixture.
