IMD forecasts rain in Telangana from May 31 to June 5, monsoon onset by June 10

Hyderabad: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places in Telangana from May 31 along with thunderstorms and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) in a few districts till June 5, India Meteorological Department said.

Prior to May 31, weather conditions will be dry and summer heat will be 2 degrees above normal, weather department said.

Temperatures are likely to be between 41-44 degrees Celsius in all districts of the state, as per 5-day maximum temperature forecast of IMD.

Onset of southwest monsoon in Telangana:

Meanwhile, Southwest monsoon is likely to hit Telangana by June 10. However, North and Central Telangana may see a delayed onset of monsoon and may witness it only by June 13.

Onset of southwest monsoon in Andhra Pradesh:

IMD Amaravati said that southwest monsoon may land in Rayalaseema region early this year, ahead of the normal scheduled arrival – June 4. Last year, it landed on June 19.

Strong winds with speed of 30-40 kmph is likely over South Coastal AP and Yanam over the next few days. Meanwhile, heat conditions are expected to prevail in June over coastal AP and Rayalaseema and heatwave is also likely. Temperatures may come down in July and August due to continuous rain, IMD said.
