New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly shortlisted three cities in the country to host the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The 18th edition of the league was suspended amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan on Thursday and later on Friday, it was decided to suspend the league for a week.

According to a report in Espncricinfo, the Indian cricket board has shortlisted Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad as the three venues to host the remaining 16 matches of the cash-rich league. The report also mentions that if the league takes place in the May month, remaining matches will be played in the these three cities else different venues would be decided if the league continues in the September 2025 window.

On Thursday, an IPL match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals came to a sudden halt in Dharamshala amid escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

Meanwhile, late on Saturday evening, a ceasefire was announced between India and Pakistan after days of violence and tensions. American President Donald Trump mediated in the ceasefire between both the nations and announced the same on his social media handle. It will be interesting to see now what the fate of the IPL remains since both India and Pakistan have agreed for ceasefire immediately.

According to a report in news agency PTI, overseas players and support staff have already started leaving India. A majority of them are expected to leave by the end of the day after they started to vacate the IPL training camps on Friday itself.
