New Delhi: Considered as the next big thing in Indian cricket team few years back, talented batter Prithvi Shaw has been battling a bad phase in his professional career since a while. Shaw, though, made a return to competitive cricket some time back in December 2024, playing matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Shaw, who kept his base price at Rs 75 lakh ahead of the 2025 mega IPL auction wasn’t picked by any of the franchises at the big event, leading to his absence from the 18th edition of the league. The IPL 2025, which was in its last phase, got suspended due to the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan which created a war-like situation last week.
With the cash-rich league set to resume on May 17, Saturday, the Indian cricketer has dropped a cryptic post on his social media handle Instagram, leaving the netizens clueless as to what he means. Two days ahead of the start of the rearranged league, Shaw took to social media and wrote: Need a break and the message was attached with a emoji.

Prithvi Shaw’s decaling career
Once hailed as a major talent in the Indian cricket team, Shaw faced a lot of issues due to his lack of form and fitness problems which dented his professional career to a major extent. Shaw was dropped from the Mumbai side because of fitness issues and his last appearance was in December where he against disappointed with the bat.
After concerns being raised regarding his weight issues and performance, Shaw started regular training and exercising to defeat the problems. Videos and photos of the Indian cricketer were viral where he was seen jogging and exercising with an aim to reduce his weight. Meanwhile, IPL, after resuming on May 17, will end on June 3 with the final being played at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, which is also expected to host the second Qualifier. The first Qualifier and Eliminator would be played in Mumbai.
