New Delhi: After weeks of speculations and suspense, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) finally unveiled India’s squad for the upcoming tour to England through a press conference on Saturday. Shubman Gill was appointed as India’s new Test skipper, filling in the shoes of recently-retired Rohit Sharma while Rishabh Pant was named the vice captain.

Seasoned pacer Mohammad Shami has been snubbed while Arshdeep Singh has earned a call-up to the Indian Test team. Karun Nair has also been roped in the Test squad after 7 years while Sai Sudharsan has also been picked.

Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.

Earlier, the press conference was preceded by a top level meeting at the BCCI headquarters where the final decisions were taken. The meeting was attended by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, chief selector Ajit Agarkar among other officials. Head coach Gautam Gambhir was notably absent from the discussions at the Mumbai headquarters.
