New Delhi: Novak Djokovic sealed his 100th tour-level trophy after digging deep at the Geneva Open to defeat sixth seed Hubert Hurkacz 5-7, 7-6(2), 7-6(2). Djokovic rallied back from 0-4 down in the deciding set to clinch the ATP 250 title after three hours and five minutes, making it the longest match of the year so far.
This was Djokovic’s first triumph since winning Olympic gold in Patras last year. With this victory, he also became the first man in the Open Era to lift a trophy in 20 different seasons. The 24-time Grand Slam champion joined Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103) as the only men in the Open Era to win 100 or more tour-level titles. Overall, he is the sixth player in the Open Era (since 1968) to reach the three-digit mark.

Additionally, he became the oldest champion in the history of the Geneva Open. Despite not dropping a single service game in the final set, the Polish star was eventually outlasted by the former World No. 1, who showcased his trademark mental toughness and fighting spirit to edge past Hurkacz and claim the title.
What’s next for Djokovic?
Djokovic will next be seen at the French Open, where he is set to face American Mackenzie McDonald in the first round. With another milestone already added to his legacy, he now sets his sights on a 25th Grand Slam title at Roland Garros.
Cobolli stuns Rublev in Hamburg Final
In another final on the same day, Italy’s Flavio Cobolli secured the biggest trophy of his career by defeating Andrey Rublev at the Bitpanda Hamburg Open. The 22-year-old triumphed 6-2, 6-4 in the ATP 500 tournament, handling Rublev’s power with composure and absorbing pressure in the crucial moments.

Cobolli saved two break points at 5-4 in the second set to close out the win, showcasing maturity beyond his years.
On the other hand, Rublev slipped to No. 17 in the PIF ATP Rankings after failing to defend his points from last year’s Madrid Masters. The Russian will now aim to bounce back with a strong showing at the upcoming French Open.
