New Delhi: Make way for a new champion this year! Yes… The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to deliver a brand new title winner when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the epic final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. After a long 18-year wait, one of the two teams will finally put an end to their title drought, becoming the IPL champions for the first time ever.
This will be the fourth meeting between RCB and PBKS in the current season as they battled twice in the league phase, sharing it 1-1, and met for the third time in Qualifier 1 on Thursday last week, where RCB beat PBKS by eight wickets and made a direct entry into the final. Bengaluru finished second in the point table, winning nine games out of 14, and getting to 19 points with one no-result encounter as well.
The road to the final for the two teams has been full of bumps as PBKS, after losing the first qualifier to RCB, waited for the winner of the Eliminator, which turned out to be Mumbai Indians (MI), who knocked out Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday. PBKS and MI squared off in Qualifier 2 on Sunday, and skipper Shreyas Iyer led the Punjab side into the final with a five-wicket win over them. In the points table, PBKS had finished first with nine wins and 19 points.
It will be highly exciting to watch the two teams vie for maiden IPL honours in the summit final clash!
