New Delhi: Leading strength and conditioning coach Adrian le Roux has joined the Indian cricket team for the upcoming tour of England, which begins on June 20.
He takes the place of Soham Desai and is set for his second stint with the national team after being in the role from January 2002 to May 2003 previously.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India shared a training video on Sunday as India begin their preparations for the upcoming five-match Test series that begins at Headingley, Leeds.
India held a nets session at Lord’s where Le Roux took part. In the video, India’s pace quartet of Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh could be seen training.
Joining them in the practice session was new Test captain Shubman Gill, keeper-batter Rishabh Pant and veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir supervised the training session as India geared up to usher in a new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

Gill is set to be India’s 37th Test skipper after the retirement of Rohit Sharma. Apart from Rohit, Virat Kohli has also bid goodbye to red-ball cricket, leading a big void in the batting line-up.
So it will be an uphill task for India’s young squad to win their first Test series win in England in 17 years.
Le Roux joins the Indian team after a six years at Indian Premier League runners-up Punjab Kings, going down to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final by six years.
After the conclusion of IPL 2025, Le Roux bid adieu to Punjab through a post on social media.
“And with that, a six-year journey with the @punjabkingsipl comes to an end. Went all the way to the final this season In the fast-moving world of professional sport, it’s easy to get caught up in the results,” he said.
“But every now and then you pause and realise that while it’s about performance and pressure, it’s also about people, shared moments and friendships that will last a lifetime. As I step into a new role with @indiancricketteam, I’ll carry these memories with me.”
