New Delhi: Young cricketing prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi created waves in the Indian Premier League 2025 with his swashbuckling performance. In his debut season in the cash-rich league, the 14-year-0ld played 7 matches scoring 252 runs with a half-century and century to his name. The Rajasthan Royals player also went on to set the record for the quickest century by an Indian in terms of balls faced in the league.

In just 35 balls, Suryavanshi smashed a hundred against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Jaipur as he went on to contribute 101 runs off just 38 deliveries studded with seven boundaries and 11 maximums. By virtue of this sensational knock, he entered his name in the record books for slamming the second fastest century in IPL and also becoming the youngest T20 centurion in men’s T20 cricket at just 14 years and 32 days.

The eye catching performance in the IPL by the young prodigy also helped him earn a call-up for Indian under-19 team’s England tour also. Meanwhile, the fit looking Vaibhav wasn’t as fit as he appeared to be in the IPL and had to quit his favourite food so as to be match ready.

Vaibhav quit his favourite dish to reduce weight

In an interview with Dainik Jagran, the RR star’s father Sanjeev Suryavanshi said that he had gained a lot of weight and had to let go off his favourite food so as to stay fit and healthy. When asked about the details, he said that Vaibhav stopped consuming litti-chokha – a popular dish from Bihar, which was the main reason behind behind his weight gain.

Sanjeev, in the interview said that he takes a balanced diet now and also goes to the gym regularly tp stay fit.  Sanjeev also revealed that he is proud that everyone knows him now through his son.

‘It is a matter of pride for every father that he is known by his son’s name. Now wherever I go, I get a lot of respect. People also come to meet me. For us, it is like a dream come true. It is a matter of great pride to score runs in the IPL at such a young age,’ he said.

Though Suryavanshi enjoyed a sensational campaign at the RR camp in IPL 2025 but the franchise failed to qualify for the playoffs.
