Stock Market: Were exit polls manipulated? TMC MP demands Sebi probe

New Delhi: All India Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale has written a formal letter to the stock market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) demanding investigation into the exit poll projections on Lok Sabha Election 2024 Results.

Gokhale has written a two-page letter to Sebi, urging the regulator to investigate whether the Lok Sabha Election 2024 exit polls predictions were deliberately misleading to manipulate the Stock Market. In the letter, the TMC MP Gokhale specifically pointed towards exit poll projections made by Axis MyIndia accusing the polling agency of massively inflating the seat numbers for BJP-NDA. According to Gokhale, BJP and exit poll agencies made crores by manipulating the stock markets through misleading projections on June 03, 2024. The exit polls had projected a clear mandate for BJP in General Election 2024.

Gokhale posted the letter sent to Sebi on his social media handle on X (formerly Twitter):

Very important:

Investigation into stock market manipulation through exit polls

I’ve written to SEBI demanding an investigation into the exit polls (specifically Axis MyIndia) which massively inflated the seat numbers for BJP-NDA.

In Bengal, they predicted 26-31 seats for BJP… pic.twitter.com/OhdZdiudRf
