Hyderabad: A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed by the police against a senior journalist who works for a news channel in Hyderabad.
The FIR was filed on the complaint of an engineer from the electricity board over alleged ‘false accusation’ of a power cut for hours in the LB Nagar area.
The journalist, Revathi, has been named in the FIR after an Assistant Engineer named M Dileep, Hayathnagar Sub-Division, Saroornagar division of TGSPDCL, LB Nagar lodged a complaint with the police that a false allegation of seven-hour power cut has been made by a ‘Hyderabad resident’.
“On June 18 at around 5 pm, he had received a message from his higher officials that one with username @revathitweets posted a message that 7 hours power interrupted in LB Nagar area. But after an inquiry from data sheets of substation over the last 6 months, it is noticed that there was no power interruption of 7 hours,” the FIR read.
The complainant stated that it is merely a false allegation and intentionally defaming the state government and their organisation TGSPDCL, the FIR further read.
Journalist Revathi has denied all allegations on her Twitter (X) account. “In a BIZARRE move, an FIR has been lodged against me while the actual culprits from Telangana Power & Co, who harassed a female consumer in broad daylight, walk free!” she wrote.
