Hyderabad: A sub-inspector of Kaleshwaram Police, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, was arrested and removed from service on Wednesday after he raped a female constable at gunpoint, reports said.
Sub-Inspector PVS Bhavanisen Goud, who is from Asifabad, is accused of sexually assaulting female officials along with rape of a woman constable. The police seized a revolver from him after the revelations came to light.
The incident of rape reportedly happened in the old police station building near Lakshmi pump house of Kaleshwaram Project on June 15.
The 42-year-old woman who was raped, filed a complaint that the SI threatened her with a revolver before he raped her. He also threatened her with severe consequences if she revealed it to anyone and that he stalked her on many occasions.
Sexual assault allegations from other women:
After she filed a complaint, many other women started coming forward and cases has been registered against him under various sections of the IPC including 376 (2) (A) (B), 324, 449, 506 and Section 27 of the Arms Act. An investigation is underway to uncover more evidence and dive deeper into the allegations.
Inspector General of Police AV Ranganath issued orders for his removal under Article 311 of the constitution after a preliminary probe confirmed sexual assault on the female constable.
Another case was registered against him at Rebbena Police station in Asifabad in July 2022 for sexually assaulting a woman in the name of assisting her with recruitment exam preparations. He was suspended but later transferred to Kaleshwaram Police Station.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy asked for strict action to be taken against the accused cop.
