Tamil Nadu: 58-year-old man driven by superstitious belief kills his grandson, arrested

Ariyalur: A grandfather murdered his one-and-a-half-month-old grandson, driven by the superstitious belief that being born in the Tamil month of ‘Chithirai’ would bring misfortune to the family. The heartbreaking incident occurred two days ago. The 58-year-old grandfather, who initially played innocent, put the baby in a barrel of water and covered it with a blanket. Following the investigation, he has been arrested by Jayankondam police today.

Sources revealed that the grandfather consulted an astrologer, who reportedly claimed the baby’s birth time was so inauspicious it would endanger his own life. Convinced by this, the grandfather committed this horrific act.
