‘He has stopped eating for taste’: A sneak peek into Virat Kohli’s strict diet regime – WATCH

New Delhi: Virat Kohli is one of the fittest cricketers in the world and follows a strict diet regime to remain on top of his game. The Team India superstar has set remarkable standards in the dressing room when it comes to fitness and continues to be an inspiration for many for his unwavering dedication and hard work.

Despite being 35, Kohli remains a vital cog for India across all formats and continues to score runs at an incredible consistency. Recently, popular cricket presenter Jatin Sapru who has known Kohli for a long time, provided a sneak peek into the senior India batter’s diet and fitness regime. Sapru revealed Kohli has stopped eating for taste and consumes only what he thinks is good for his body.

He also shared an interesting anecdote about Kohli, recalling how the former India captain once ate only baked chicken and steamed veggies for an entire season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to stay on top of his game. Kohli himself has admitted in the past that he can eat the same food for a long time as he never compromises with his fitness.

“In one IPL season, he ate only baked chicken and steamed veggies or something; for the entire season. He does not think, today I will eat something else. No, this is what I will eat,” Sapru said on Ranveer Alahabadia’s YouTube podcast The Ranveer Show.

“He told me once, he has stopped eating for taste. He said I know my body needs this much gram of certain things and that is the only thing take is made and eats,” he added.

Sharing another instance which speaks volumes of Kohli’s commitment to his strict diet and fitness regime, Sapru revealed he once met the Team India star on a flight and saw him carrying his own set of coffee, nuts and protein bars among others. Lauding Kohli, Sapru said Kohli does the boring and doing the boring is the toughest.

“Once on a flight, I saw him carrying a big bag that had a coffee set, nut set, protein bar set, and timing, he knew, after half an hour he had to eat it. There is this routine, there is that discipline. He does the boring, and doing boring is the toughest thing to do,” Sapru added.

Virat Kohli aims to bounce back for India in T20 World Cup 2024

Kohli is currently in action for the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2024. The senior batter endured a rough patch in the group stage of the tournament as he returned with low scores of 1, 4 and 0 in India’s three completed matches. He managed only 5 runs in three matches and will be hoping to get back among the runs for India in the Super Eight.

India will lock horns with Afghanistan in their opening game in the Super Eight stage on Thursday, June 20.
