New Delhi: India will take on Australia in their third match of the Super 8 at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia on June 24. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.
India, Australia campaign in T20 World Cup
Both teams had outstanding campaigns in the tournament so far India has won all of their matches while Australia lost their second Super 8 match against Afghanistan. Team India started their campaign with a dominating win against Ireland after that they defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 6 runs and co-host USA by 7 wickets. Their last group-stage match against Canada was abandoned due to heavy rain. India defeated Afghanistan by 47 runs in their first Super 8 match and Rohit Sharma and Co. defeated Bangladesh by 50 runs in their second Super 8 match.
Mitchell Marsh-led side defeated Oman, England, Namibia and Scotland to qualify for the next round. The Men in Yellow defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs in their Super 8 match but lost their second match against Afghanistan by 21 runs. Both Australia and India will look to win the match and qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024.
