New Delhi: The penultimate day of the T20 World Cup 2024 is just hours away and four teams will battle it out against each other for a spot in the summit clash. While South Africa take on Afghanistan in the first semifinal at 6 AM on Thursday, India lock horns with England in the second semifinal at 8 PM.
The Men in Blue have enjoyed a fantastic run in the lead up to the semis where they are the only team apart from South Africa to be undefeated in the marquee event so far. This happens to be India’s best chance of breaking the jinx of not winning a big ICC event in more than a decade. While England also look as a tough opponent, India have a better chance of clinching the encounter.
Sreesanth lauds Bumrah
Meanwhile, former India player S Sreesanth has lauded Bumrah’s bowling in the marquee event saying that he will be a big difference against England in the semifinal match. Bumrah has been in top-notch form in the T20 World Cup where the pace spreadhead has scalped 11 wickets in 7 games so far. While the prolific seamer is expected to fire in the penultimate contest, Sreesanth is confident that he will be a key member against the Three Lions.
Speaking to Star Sports, Sreesanth said “All I can say is the way Bumrah bowls, whenever he gets an opportunity to bowl, he’s got that plan and he executes those plans really well. If you look at his deliveries, he bowls in front of his head, which is an awkward action, making it very difficult to pick up. The England players have faced him, but when it comes to critical situations, maybe that is one mantra to learn—that Bumrah is going to be a big difference when it comes to winning or losing. Those four overs, as rightly said at the start of the show, those 24 balls, how the England team deals with them will matter,”.
In the 7 matches played so far at the T20 World Cup 2024, Jasprit Bumrah has exhibited top-notch form claiming 11 wickets for the Men in Blue. Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
